LAFAM NGO – OBJECTIVES
Operating globally, our NGO — non-profit oriented, non-political and non-religious — intends to mobilize resources worldwide for actions of solidarity, lifelong learning for economic empowerment and sustainable social impact.
Women, children, and vulnerable populations remain at the heart of our mission. While facing immense challenges, they also hold the potential for transformational change. Through lifelong learning and continuous support, we empower them to regain their dignity, become the true architects of their own lives, and lead sustainable economic and social development within their communities worldwide
Our actions include:
- Create training workshops for women, minorities, and vulnerable people living in refugee camps or social centers, in health and various economic sectors, allowing the development of local activity and economy
- Establish actions and support projects to prepare women, minorities, and vulnerable people living in refugee camps or social centers to take their future into their own hands and improve the quality of life in their community
- Develop a partnership between governmental and nongovernmental agencies working in the field and find synergies to optimize resources and improve their interventions with innovative and additional specific actions
- Establish monitoring and information tools to allow sponsors, funders and governance bodies visibility on the results of actions undertaken
- Create a “Village of Hope”: a living place near camps or social centres, on land provided by the government, which receives women, children, refugees, and vulnerable people, and offers them an environment to rebuild themselves
Our cooperation includes:
- Create a Cooperation with the World Committee for Lifelong Learning (CMAtlv) in South America. LAFAM will participate in the 8th World Forum on Lifelong Learning, to be held in Bogotá, Colombia in September 2026, and organised by the CMAtlv and the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Under the theme “Lifelong Learning: Pillars of Peace and Pathways to Social Transformation,” the Forum will provide an opportunity for LAFAM to share its vision and engage with international stakeholders on the essential role of learning, skills development and empowerment in building more inclusive, resilient and sustainable societies
- Share experiences with European and African agencies. LAFAM participated in the 7th World Forum on Lifelong Learning, held in Alexandria in Egypt, from 7th-9th March 2023, and organised by the World Committee for Lifelong Learning (CMAtlv) and the European Union Erasmus Camps+ under the theme “Refugee and migrants’ health – challenges and opportunities for health education”. The Forum provided an opportunity for LAFAM to share its health capacity-building experience in the refugee camps in the Kurdish Region in Iraq.
